Lido Bay's 2010 Seven Seas Viognier - 89
A beautifully done Viognier that shows not only fruit, but solid minerality, the Lido Bay 2010 Seven Seas Viognier is loaded with ripe peach, citrus rind, spice, crushed stone and creme notes to go with a medium-bodied, round and rich palate that firms up nicely on the finish with solid acids. Delicious and very easy drinking, yet far from flat and uninteresting, this borderline outstanding Viognier should be consumed in its fresh and vibrant youth over the coming year or two.
Lido Bay's 2009 Mercenary Syrah - 89
Upfront and well fruited, with ripe plum, licorice, herb, chocolate and river rock-like minerality, the Lido Bay 2009 Mercenary Syrah is a round, supple and easy going Syrah that has loads of fruit, no hard edge, a mouth-filling texture and an enjoyable finish. It's a crowd pleaser that will continue to show well for 4-5 years.
Lido Bay's 2009 Mercenary Petite Sirah - 89
Along the same lines, with loads of plum laced black fruits, potpourri, toasted spice and flowers, the Lido Bay 2009 Mercenary Petite Sirah is full-bodied, upfront and fruit-driven on the palate. Straightforward and easy drinking, yet with notable purity and a seamless, polished texture, this crowd pleaser should be consumed over the coming 4-6 years.
